Making the Move Once you have a house under contract, it is time to start the moving process. These ideas will save you time, money and frustration:
Begin by cleaning out your closets. Dispose of items you have not work in the past year (six months is better). Have a yard sale, give them to a friend or donate them to charity. Keep receipts if you give to charity.
Decide what furnishings you want to move. Some will not fit into your new home, and you may have outgrown some of them.
Dispose of items that should not be moved: flammables, paint gasoline, anti-freeze, tanks with propane, etc.
If you are not hiring a mover, decide who will be available to help you.
Compare costs if you are hiring someone to move you. We have worked with various companies and can provide names if you wnt.
Prepare your family (children, grandparents), and enlist their help. Get them excited about your move rather than unhappy.
We have printed information that will assist your move, and it goes into more detail on the above items and much more about packing, pets, plants, perishables, etc.
